Among the many tourist destinations on the east coast of Sicily, which can be reached from Pupi Catania Etna B&B, there is also Syracuse, an hour away.
The origins of Syracuse are on the island of Ortigia, today connected to the mainland by two bridges
You can start your day at the archaeological park of Neapolis, if you want to see the traces of the Greeks for yourself: the Greek theater (if you’re lucky, in May, you can also enjoy one of the beautiful Greek tragedies that are staged at that time) ; the ear of Dionysus, so called because the tyrant Dionysius listened to the prisoners from inside the cave; and finally, the Roman amphitheater, the third largest in Italy, after the Colosseum and the arena of Verona.
In the afternoon it will be pleasant to move to Ortigia, the island that represents the heart of the beautiful city of Syracuse, and which at sunset is even more romantic.
